Holiday Taxis eyes European expansion - Travel Weekly - 23 Feb 2004
HOLIDAY Taxis plans to increase the size of its portfolio almost fourfold by launching into a raft of new European cities
The holiday transfer service is in negotiations to etend its European product range from 12 to 40 destinations by the end of next month and Turkey should join the product range by the summer.
Managing director Paul Stanyer said the move would also represent a move into the business market.
"We're contracting all the major European cities, not just capitals and secondary cities. We're looking at business travel airports and low-cost destinations," he said.
Destinations in the US, including Miami, New York and Boston, have also been contracted and should be bookable within a fortnight. Meanwhile, ski destinations in France, Switzerland and Italy have recently gone live.
Stanyer is also looking for airline partners. So far Holiday Taxis has a link on MyTravelLite's website.
The news follows the employment of a national sales manager to raise Holiday Taxis' trade focus as it targets 25,000 bookings this year, up from last year's 10,000. Damian McDonough, ex-MyTravel and most recently accommodation-only supplier Marbella Options, has been appointed.
Technololgy improvements already mean agents can view Holiday Taxi sales more comprehensively, tracking bookings and margins through all their branches online.
So far 4,000 agents, mostly independants, have registered to work with Holiday Taxis.
