Holiday Taxis plans own fleet... - TTG - 17 Oct 2008
Transfer specialist Holiday Taxis has started creating its own fleet and plans to eventually have enough vehicles to run 75% of its customer's journeys. The top-of-the-range fleet has initially been deployed in the Greater London area but will be extended nationwide.
Chief executive Paul Stanyer announced the move at the Travel Convention, following the company's announcement that it intends to make its entire fleet, ranging from hybrid cars to helicopters, carbon neutral by the end of this year.
Stanyer said this would strengthen the firm's position as market leader and give it greater control over the quality of the service it offers customers. "Customers can still book transfers anywhere in the UK as we have a network of suppliers; however, over time, more and more will be undertaken in our own vehicles," he added.
The Demise of the XL Leisure group will add to the difficulties in the dynamic packaging sector in the next 12 months and Stanyer warned there could be some failures. However he said Holiday Taxis had sound financial footing and targeted a number of areas for growth during 2009. "Luckily we have never had all of our eggs in the Mediterranean dynamic sector basket," he added
Stanyer was recently shortlisted as one of the three finalists for the Institute of Directors' director of the year award. The winner will be announced in November.
