Holiday Taxis buys broker Where2Guv - Travel Trade Gazette - 13 Jul 2007

Holiday Taxis has aquired UK taxi broker Where2Guv.com for an undisclosed six-figure sum.

The transfers specialist now plans to expand its domestic business and target locals and expats overseas.

Chief executive Paul Stanyer said he wants to gain more business for Holiday Taxis for inbound tourists.

Where2Guv works with 1,000 UK taxi providers, mostly on corporate accounts.

In 2006 it made a "small loss" on turnover of £500,000, and is on-track to make a turnover of £1.5m this year, according to Stanyer.

Privately owned Holiday Taxis predicts a turnover of £12m this year, up from £6m last year when it reported a profit of £650,000.

The Where2Guv brand will remain and its seven staff will be retained at their office in Hailsham, East Sussex.

The majority shareholder Stephen Dean, now reports to Stanyer.

Where2Guv sales and marketing functions are likely to operate through Holiday Taxis.

The taxi broker's website operates on a "postcode to postcode" basis and Stanyer wants to adapt its technology to other countries, making Holiday Taxis an "all-round transport solution" for anyone overseas, rather than just transfers for holidaymakers.

Where2Guv prices through Holiday Taxis are likely to be reduced by up to 15%.

Holiday Taxis' business arm, Business Taxis, is also expected to benefit, as Where2Guv's UK corporate clients will be offered deals for overseas travel.
