Travel entrants in Top 100 'Fast' list - TGG Live - 07 Dec 2009

Four travel companies were included in the Sunday Times’ 100 fastest growing private companies list for 2009.

Central London-based Your Golf Travel was the highest ranked travel company, coming 15th after its annual sales rocketed by 140% in its last financial year.

The Low Cost Travel Group
, which sells flights, hotels and transfers through agents, was 20th on the list after its sales exceeded £50 million for the first time, a 127% increase on its previous financial year.

Directline Holidays
was ranked in 35th place while airport transfer company Holiday Taxis was listed for the second successive year, dropping from 44th to 77th place.

Paul Evans
, chief executive of The Low Cost Travel group, said he was “excited” to have been included in the list and claimed it was the company’s ability to offer cheap holidays that was key to its success.

“We listen to what our customers really want when they are booking a holiday and with many of our holidays up to 50% cheaper than traditional packages we make it quick and easy for holidaymakers to find the right holiday at the right price.”

Paul Stanyer
, chief executive of Holiday Taxis, said being listed for the second consecutive year was testament to the robustness of the business model. Though he would not predict how much the economy would recover in 2010 he insisted that scope for growth still existed.

“Everyone has a different opinion about how 2010 will go. But it’s impossible to say given what has happened.

“Our success this year has come from working even closer with existing customers, identifying where they have large volume and then selling them more transfers.”

Stanyer said he also hoped to see growth in European markets, especially Germany where the company had made significant investment.

Cyclescheme, a Bath-based company which runs a city cycle scheme, came top of the rankings.
