Things to see and do in Morzine

Unlike some ski resorts, Morzine is a proper alpine town, full of life throughout the year. So whether you’re visiting outside the snow season, or if the weather is poor there are various non-ski related activities to keep you entertained.

Visitors looking to kick back and relax will be pleased to discover a good choice of spas in and around the town. Some of the best places include the spa at the Dahu Hotel, where you can purchase a day pass allowing access to all the facilities. Mountain Rehab is another top spot, especially for sporty types looking to unwind, which has a comprehensive timetable of yoga, pilates and other fitness classes.

Thanks to Morzine being a year-round destination, you’ll find plenty of shopping opportunities, with clothes shops, boutiques, chocolate shops and souvenir shops to choose from. Start the day with coffee and pastries at one of the various cafes, or pick up something to take away at the delicious Bon Bonnerie bakery.

In terms of entertainment, you’ll find a lot of lively local pubs and bars, some of which hold quiz nights and live music. There is also a cinema with films in English, or for something a little different, buy tickets for a Morzine ice hockey match.

Winter activities

Skiing and snowboarding are the main events here in Morzine, but if you’re not much of a skier or just fancy a break from the pistes, there are plenty of other winter snow sports to try. Sledging is a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy, which is free if you have your own sledge, or if not can be hired at a local ski shop. Night sledging is a great activity if you want something a little more exciting, with regular sessions running throughout the week. Another family favourite is ice skating, and Morzine is home to an outdoor ice rink with stunning views.

One of the best ways to see the local countryside is on foot, so hire some snowshoes and explore some of the trails and walking routes around the mountains - You can either plan your own route or hire a guide. For something even more adventurous, why not try ice climbing or ice diving? A local guide will show you how it’s done.

Summer activities

Swimming is an activity that visitors can enjoy all year round, thanks to the Morzine swimming complex which includes a 25 metre pool and kids area (there is also a sauna here for ultimate relaxation)

If you’re visiting in the summer and looking for some thrilling outdoor fun, try canyoning - Similar to coasteering, this fantastic activity involves following the course of a river through a canyon by jumping, abseiling and clambering your way along (all with the help of a professional instructor of course). You could also try caving with one of the local adventure companies, or take a scuba diving lesson at Parc des Derèchês and practice your newly learned skill in one of the clear alpine lakes nearby.

Best restaurants

The best value restaurants for hungry skiers looking for budget-friendly food includes Mamas, located in the town and serving an international menu, and Changabang, which is found at the top of the Les Prodains cable car in Avoriaz (it’s a top spot for tasty burgers at a good price).

For something a little more traditional, try Chez Nannon which you can get to via the Ravarettes or Troncs Express chairlifts - Expect plenty of melted cheese, tartiflette and pork dishes, as well as steak and burgers. Finally l’Atelier is your go-to restaurant for fine dining; they do a fantastic seven-course menu for around 80 euros.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
