Things to see and do in Bangkok

Bangkok is a busy hive of activity, a cosmopolitan mix of skyscrapers, shrines, market stalls, galleries and shops. The best way to get around, and get the best views of the city, is aboard the sky train. You can use this air conditioned transport to get you anywhere in Bangkok.

Start your trip with a visit to some of the best known sites, then try some shopping at one of the markets, where you can practice your haggling. The best of the bunch is Chatuchak Weekend Market. You’ll find more than 8000 stalls, making it one of the largest markets in the world.

After the hustle and bustle of searching for souvenirs and gifts, try a relaxing boat trip down the Chao Phraya River. You can simply enjoy the views of the high-end hotels and high rises that line the banks, or get off at one of the stops to explore a little more. To unwind even further, treat yourself to a famous Thai massage, you can ask at your hotel where to find a good one nearby.

Finally, no trip to Bangkok would be complete without experiencing the city’s infamous nightlife. From cool cocktail joints and rooftop bars to lively nightclubs and the city’s red light district, there’s plenty of choice to suit every taste.

Top attractions

Of all the places of interest in Bangkok, the Grand Palace has to be the number one tourist attraction. The former home of the Thai king covers more than 214,000 square metres, and is like no other royal residence you’ve seen.

Once you’ve seen the splendour of the palace, pay a visit to two of the must-see Buddhist temples: Wat Pho and Wat Arun. The former is home to the Reclining Buddha, a 46-metre long, gold-leaf covered statue. Wat Arun is an even more beautiful temple on the banks of the river, with a huge tower made of colourful tiles.

Eating out

The best way to experience Thai cuisine in Bangkok is by eating with the locals at the street vendors. You’ll find prices are good value, and there will be lots of different dishes to try. However, there are also some more traditional restaurants where you can enjoy a sit down meal. Nahm, which is run by an Australian chef, is generally regarded to be one of the city’s best Thai restaurants. Krua Apsorn is a favourite among Thai royalty, while Likhit Kai Yang is popular with locals (and the owners speak English).

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
