What to do in Perama?

Historically one of Corfu's most popular resorts, Perama is situated 7 km south of Corfu town. Corfu town can be accessed over the causeway by foot in approximately 30 minutes from Perama. The resort is closest to and therefore has the best views of, mouse island (Pontikonissi) which is Corfu's most photographed sight.

The beautiful island is home to a small church which still holds weddings and christenings, and can be accessed by boat, or even swum (for stronger swimmers). The causeway which joins Perama to Kanoni is a good spot for an evening stroll and gets busy with fisherman and plane spotters. Above the resort is a winding country lane en route to the village of Gastouri, which passes chapels and historic houses and makes for a pleasant evening stroll. Another enjoyable walk is to the old aqueduct, which was built by the British, a little harder to find but offers impressive scenery and pretty vistas.

Perama has a few small beaches, but nearby are better beaches which can easily be accessed by foot or local bus. Perama is well situated, close to Corfu town and on all bus routes to the south of the island, so it is a good base.
