Why visit Estepona?

Holidays in Estepona offer a great mix of traditional culture and a sophisticated shopping and nightlife scene. Of course, one of the main attractions here is the Blue Flag beach and the pretty marina, where you can enjoy cocktails with a view of the sea, but there are some great attractions to see in the area as well.

Things to do

Estepona’s shoreline covers over 20 kilometres of the Costa del Sol’s coast and 17 different beaches, with a mix of golden sands, hidden coves and rocky, wild beaches. Here you can try tapas at the beach bars, go snorkelling, sunbathe or try out some watersports.

If you get tired of the beach, however, the nearby Selwo Aventura animal park is a popular attraction with tigers, zebras and lions, camel rides and the longest zipwire in Europe. Or you can stay in the town itself and make the most of the shopping opportunities, such as the Sunday market or the boutiques along Calle Real and Calle Terraza.

Outdoor Activities

Estepona is surrounded by fantastic mountain landscapes that would appeal to any hiker - the best place for a walk here is the Sierra Bermeja range. Or you can explore the terrain on horseback with a tour organised by the equestrian centre, which specialises in treks and overnight camping adventures.

While you’re on the beach, why not have a go at one of the watersports available. La Rada Beach has a centre that offers kayaking, windsurfing and jet-skiing as well as beginners’ scuba diving courses.

Eating out

For the very best tapas, head to Plaza Las Flores where you can try a different bar each night and get a real taste for the local dishes such as chorizo and seafood. For heartier meals, get a table at La Escollera or Restaurante Club Nautico Estepona, both of which offer a fantastic variety of fresh fish and seafood.

When to visit

The best weather is in the summer, during July and August, when temperatures hover in the 30s and sunny days are guaranteed. However, if you prefer cooler temperatures, the best time to visit Estepona is in spring or autumn.
