Why visit Fuengirola?

Fuengirola has grown from a fishing village into one of the Costa del Sol’s main attractions, boasting tourist-friendly restaurants, great facilities, a buzzing atmosphere and plenty of shops. It’s also retained some of its traditional charm, with a Moorish castle and town squares packed with tasty tapas bars and boutiques. Add in its fantastic beach and you have a resort that will please everyone.

Things to do

Fuengirola’s main attraction is its selection of Blue Flag winning beaches, eight in total. Alongside spending the day sunbathing, swimming, playing beach sports or trying numerous watersports, pass time relaxing at one of the beach bars (chiringuitos) with drinks or tapas.

Go sightseeing with a walk up to Sohail Castle, the resorts top sight to see, a fantastic view point over the town and surround ocean. Saturday is market day, so don’t forget to stop by at the Feria Flea Market in Los Boliches where you can browse over 500 stalls. If you want to explore a little further then Granada is only a two hour drive away, ideal for a day trip. Come evening, Fuengirola is the place to be, with its energetic nightlife and lots of buzzing bars and clubs.

Popular restaurants

Fish is the speciality round here, and one of the most popular places to eat is at one of the many beach bars where visitors can try the traditional grilled sardines, cooked over an open fire. Calle Moncayo, also known as Fish Alley, is a top spot for seafood dishes such as paella and langoustine. Al Marmita is one of the town’s top spots, specialising in fresh Mediterranean cuisine at reasonable prices.
