Things to do in Bayahibe

Bayahibe is a tropical beach town resort that offers everything you could want on holiday on a paradise island. From stunning white sandy beaches and coral-filled crystal clear waters to its relaxing atmosphere. The resort has two beaches to choose from. To the north of the town is Bayahibe Beach, where the coral reef just below the waves makes it an ideal place for snorkelling. To the south is Dominicus Beach, where the sand slopes very gently into the water - making it a good place for families with young children and toddlers. If you walk past the luxury hotels that border the beach, you’ll come to the unspoiled and almost visitor-free sands of the National Park.

Thanks to the stunning sea life and vibrant coral reefs, one of the most popular activities here in Bayahibe is scuba diving. Experienced divers will have the opportunity to explore fish-filled dive sites and wrecks, such as the wreck of the St George. Newer divers and beginners will find plenty of shallow sites to visit, with dive shops and scuba centres offering PADI courses.

Bayahibe is also well known for its nightlife, with a choice of bars and nightclubs that often spill out onto the streets with dancing and music. To the south of Bayahibe beach, Calle La Bahia is a good place to find some of the best action. Popular clubs include Colmado, Mundo Aquatico and Starz Club.

Top attractions

For a true taste of paradise, take a day trip to Saona Island, famous as the filming location for the Bounty advert. This is one of the most popular boat excursions from Bayahibe Beach, and it takes 90 minutes by boat to get to the island.

A little closer to your hotel, you’ll find the previously mentioned Parque Nacional del Este national park. Home to tropical birds, butterflies, ancient trees and protected marine life, it’s the perfect place to see some of the island’s natural attractions. Explore the tropical rainforest with a 4x4 jeep tour, take a boat to the Piscina Natural or go spelunking in the caves and limestone grottos.

Like many islands in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is big on festivals. If you are visiting over Christmas, don’t miss the Christmas Eve parades through the streets and the countdown to midnight. The Bayahibe Mango Festival, in July, is a great chance for foodies to get a taste of the locally grown fruit in fish dishes, chutneys and desserts - as well as plenty of cocktails.

Best restaurants

Unsure what you fancy for dinner? Head to Sunset Dominicus, a popular restaurant serving both Caribbean and Italian food. Expect a menu of fresh seafood and excellent pasta dishes. For a romantic night out, Mare Nuestro has an excellent choice of seafood dishes and some of the best views in town - arrive in time for the sunset. Alternatively, enjoy a typical local meal at Cafeteria Julissa. This casual eatery is a great spot for coffee, rice and beans or meat dishes at a very reasonable price.

March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
