Things to do in Makadi Bay

The beautiful resort of Makadi Bay is located on the edge of the Red Sea and is populated by all-inclusive hotels with lots of facilities. It’s a purpose-built resort, making it the perfect choice for families looking for a holiday in Egypt. The spectacular beaches, excellent diving opportunities and the wonderfully warm climate are the main reasons people come to Makadi Bay, but there are plenty of other attractions as well.

The beaches themselves are excellent for swimming and sunbathing, offering holidaymakers a little slice of paradise. You’ll also find plenty of activities to try at Makadi Bay, from beach sports to watersports. Have a go at jet skiing, windsurfing, paragliding or rent a pedalo. If you didn’t pack your snorkelling gear, you’re sure to find some in the local shops.

Golfing is equally popular, and you’ll find a choice of different golf courses including a 72-par championship course. You can explore the surrounding desert and sand dunes with a camel trek or on horseback, take a boat trip along the coast or take a local excursion or day trip to some of the surrounding towns or attractions.

In the resort town itself you’ll find a choice of shops and can go shopping for gifts and souvenirs at the grand bazaars. In the evening, check out the local nightlife at one of the resort hotels. You can enjoy a delicious three course meal with cocktails, watch some live entertainment or take a taxi to nearby Hurghada where you’ll find plenty of bars and clubs.

Top attractions

Thanks to its warm weather and year-round warm seas, as well as its spectacular underwater life, the Red Sea is one of the best places in the world for diving. Anyone looking to try it for the first time will find the iDive Diving Centre offers PADI diving courses, for beginners who want to explore beneath the waves.

If you’re not keen on trying scuba diving, one of the best things to do in Makadi Bay is the Sinbad Submarine Tour. This underwater tour takes 44 passengers under the sea for a 45 minutes experience some of the colourful life in the Red Sea. Thanks to panoramic windows, you can get excellent views of the fish, rays and other marine life.

Finally, one of the top day trips for anyone visiting the area around Hurghada is a visit to Luxor. The city, located on the site of the ancient city of Thebes, is a must for anyone interested in Egyptian history. A guided tour includes a visit to Karnak Temple and the Hypostyle Hall, the huge statues of Amenhotep III and the famous Valley of Kings. It may also include a stop at Hatshepsut Temple.

Best restaurants

The Grill is a restaurant within easy access of most of the hotels in the Makadi Bay resort and offers a wide choice of European and International dishes, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Its specialities, as you might guess, are grilled meats and steak.

Nino’s Restaurant is a well recommended Italian and Mediterranean eatery with excellent service and good portions of very tasty food. If you’re looking for something a little different, Makai Tukai is the best Asian restaurant in the area - and a top spot for sushi.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage.
