Why visit Yaiza

Yaiza is so picturesque it has been voted ‘Prettiest Village in Spain’ twice in recent years. Aside from being an attractive white-washed pueblo, Yaiza is also a local municipal with the seaside resorts of Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero. Aside from its charming looks, the town is also home to a good selection of bars and shops, as well as an attractive 17th century church.

Things to do

Once you have explored this pretty little town, it’s time to see some more of Lanzarote. The island’s biggest attraction is its Timanfaya National Park, a lunar landscape of craters, mountains and solidified lava. It’s a great place to hike, or even explore by camel.

Of course, one of the main features of the area is an expanse of stunning sandy beaches, and Playa Blanca is only 15 minutes away by car. Here you can try watersports, enjoy cocktails at one of the many bars or go shopping at the marina.

Top Restaurants

Try some of the local Canarian cuisine during your stay in Yaiza. Mirador de las Salinas is a popular restaurant serving tasty seafood dishes, such as paella, and offering stunning views over the salt flats and the bay. Another option is La Bodega de Santiago which does plenty of meat-based dishes and has a very friendly atmosphere.

When to go

For the hottest weather, usually in the high 20s, the best time of year to visit Lanzarote is in the summer. In spring and autumn, the weather is usually cooler and less humid, with plenty of sunshine guaranteed.
