Things to see and do in Cancun

Whatever else you want to see in Cancun one thing’s for sure, the beaches will be at the top of your list. The stunning coastline of pristine white sands and crystal clear water is the main reason holidaymakers flock to the popular city of Cancun. You could spend your whole trip beach hopping, exploring the different bays and getting closer to the local wildlife.

Cancun is the ideal spot to try scuba diving for the first time - Home to the second-largest coral reef in the world, the Great Maya Reef (also known as Mesoamerican Barrier Reef), it’s a top spot for diving. There are plenty of sites suitable for beginners and even snorkelers; getting up close to the colourful sea life, including the local turtles, is an unforgettable experience.

If you prefer to stay above the water, you can still feel like an explorer with a speed boat tour of the mangrove jungles that surround Nichupte Lagoon - Hire a two-seater boat and head off through the winding waterways, looking out for wildlife on the way.

Top attractions

Cancun’s top attraction, aside from its natural beauty, is the incredible ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza - Now considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and a protected UNESCO site, the largely intact pyramid ruins are a must-see.

The Riviera Maya, which is the coast along which Cancun is located, is also famous for its cenotes (or xenotes). These natural sinkholes are sometimes part of huge underground river systems, where divers can explore the different caves.

If you’re into diving, you’ll want to visit MUSA, Cancun’s Underwater Museum and the world’s most famous underwater sculptures. This huge artificial reef, again the biggest in the world, is made up of over 500 sculptures and is home to plenty of marine life. Even if you’re not diving, you can still explore this underwater world by glass-bottomed boat or by snorkelling.

Best restaurants

If you’re visiting Cancun for your honeymoon, to get married, or any other special occasion, you’ll want to celebrate with a meal at Casitas - Meals here are served on the beach, in the most romantic setting you could imagine; hidden away from other guests in the privacy of sheer veiled canopies, with candlelit tables to watch the sunset.

At the opposite end of the budget, but no less welcoming or delicious is Surfin’ Burrito - This hugely popular eatery serves up generous portions of loaded burritos and Californian comfort food, with ample choice for anyone not keen on seafood.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
