What to do in Sorrento?

With its picturesque buildings and stunning views, Sorrento is a pleasure to explore by foot or by bike. It's a maze of cobblestone streets, hideaway boutique shops, lively bars, churches and a cathedral. There are plenty of shopping opportunities and local crafts, such as lace and jewellery, which make great gifts and souvenirs.

There are a few beaches in the area and most swimming is done from the bathing platforms beneath the cliffs. Public platforms charge an entrance fee which gives visitors access to changing and shower facilities, as well as places to eat. Holidaymakers can also explore a little further along the coast with a visit to the pretty towns of Positano and Amalfi.

Attractions

Sorrento's marina is away from the main centre of the city and is a charming spot with fishing boats, colourful houses and lots of great places to eat. For culture lovers, the town's Duomo (cathedral) and various museums are good places to explore in an afternoon.

Another famous sight is the Vallone dei Mulino (visible from Via Fuorimura street), it's a historic valley in Sorrento that contains the ruins of an old mill. Outside of the town itself, a must-visit place for tourists to the area is the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, buried in ash by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

Where to eat

Pizza originally comes from these parts, so it would be wrong to visit without trying some (they do it best after all). The harbour is one of the best spots for a slice, where you'll find some lovely family-run restaurants.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
