Getting to Mauritius by air

There are two scheduled airlines which fly non-stop to Mauritius from the UK:

• From London Heathrow Airport with British Airways or Air Mauritius
• From London Gatwick Airport with Thomson's Dreamliner
• From Manchester (Ringway) Airport with Thomson's Dreamliner

Flights from the US and Canada:

There aren’t any direct flights from the US and Canada. The best options are via London, Paris or Dubai.

Flights from Australia, South Africa and New Zealand:

Direct flights operate from Perth Australia by Air Mauritius, taking eight hours. There are direct flights from Johannesburg and Durban with Air Mauritius, taking four hours. Flights from New Zealand require at least one change.

Entry requirements

UK, US, Australian, South African and EU citizens don't need a visa to enter Mauritius. Your passport will be stamped on arrival, allowing entry to the country for up to 60 days. New Zealand and Canadian citizens are allowed entry to Mauritius for up to 90 days.You'll need to have an onward or a return airline ticket and proof of sufficient funds.

Local customs

You should carry a photocopy of your passport and your driving licence and leave the original copies in a safe place. The local police might approach you and ask you to show identification. Mauritius is relatively conservative country. Women should avoid walking alone in the evening or late at night.
