What to do in Glasgow?

The port city of Glasgow is best known for its striking Victorian architecture, which has led to it featuring as a backdrop for many Hollywood movies including Cloud Atlas, World War Z and Fast & Furious 6.

It’s also a cultural hub, home to some of Scotland’s finest institutions including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. It’s the first city in the UK to be named a UNESCO City of Music; visitors can choose from hundreds of live concerts and gigs every week. Take a guided tour of some of the city’s best venues which have helped launch the career of bands such as Oasis and stop off to see the world’s oldest surviving music hall.

Other cultural highlights include the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (free to enter), The Lighthouse, the Scottish Centre for design and architecture, plus Mackintosh’s House, the original home of famous designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Visit the City Chambers in George Square, at the heart of the city, plus the medieval Glasgow Cathedral and its cemetery named the Necropolis.

Ashton Lane is one of the best places for bars and restaurants; you can try haggis and a dram of whisky, or enjoy some of the local nightlife. There are lots of pubs to choose from and, during the summer months, it’s a popular spot for al fresco eating.

Many visitors arriving at Glasgow Airport are also on the way to some of the beautiful surrounding countryside, much of which is easily accessible from Glasgow for a day trip. Balloch Castle Country Park is an excellent area for walks and comes with a sandy beach. Whereas Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park is a stunning area where you might spot eagles, stags and otters.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
