Things to do in Brussels

One of Belgium’s most famous exports is its beer, so where better to try a pub crawl or beer tasting tour than the city of Brussels. Whether you choose to do a self-guided tour of the best pubs and breweries or go with a professional, don’t forget to stop for some french fries or Belgian waffles (gaufres) along the way.

Belgium is also known for its comics, especially Tintin. You’ll see murals and illustrations on walls and building around the city, in the train station, and plenty of comic book shops and cafes around town. Visit the Belgian Comic Strip Centre to discover some of the other great Belgian cartoons. You can also take in an exhibition, concert or some theatre at Bozar, the Centre for Fine Arts, see some traditional lace crafts at the Costume Museum or admire the paintings at the Musée Royaux Des Beaux Arts. Purchase a Brussels Card on arrival for free entry to various galleries and museums, as well as access to public transport in the city centre.

For shopping, you find a huge range of high street brands and shops along the main streets of the city. But for a bargain, try the Jeu de Balle flea market. This large outdoor market has stalls selling everything you could imagine, from art and antiques to clothing.

Top attractions

The Grand Place is the main attraction of Brussels, featuring the impressive architecture of the city hall and the six surrounding guild halls. It’s worth visiting in the morning, when there are fewer people, and at night, when the buildings are illuminated. You may even arrive to find the square filled with flowers.

The Palais Royal, official residence of the Belgian royal family, is well worth a visit. In the summer the palace is open for tours, where visitors can see the splendid interiors, including a ceiling covered entirely with beetle shells. Of course, the best known monument in the city is the small statue of the Manneken Pis. While the statue itself is nothing special, you can often find it dressed in one of around 1,000 costumes, some of which can be viewed at the GardeRobe MannekenPis museum.

Best restaurants

One of the best places to enjoy a meal is at the Chasseurs Ardenais Market. Off the usual tourist track, this Friday evening market is where you’ll find the locals enjoying a drink. All the usual local produce of fruit, veg and deli meats can be found, as well as food trucks and wine bars with terraces.

Cafe Belga is a well-known spot that’s popular with locals and tourists. Offering great views, affordable traditional food and a lively atmosphere, it’s easy to see why. Another popular choice is Le Cirio, with its original 1886 interiors, aproned waiters and reasonable prices.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
