Origo Mare is a peaceful neighbourhood in northern Fuerteventura, with spectacularly scenic, volcanic settings and views out over the ocean. The hotel resorts here are well equipped for holidaymakers, offering all the amenities and entertainment you could need during your stay.

You can also rent bicycles to explore the island, or join one of the daily excursions to see Fuerteventura's volcanoes. Top attractions

The Corralejo Natural Reserve is a fantastic place to visit for nature-lovers. Visitors can explore the huge sand dunes, which stretch out along the coast for 10 kilometres, and try to spot some of the protected plant and animal life. The beaches here are also popular for surfing and other watersports.

Another popular day trip is to the Isla de Lobos, a little island off the coast of Fuerteventura that can easily be access with a regular ferry. Or take the kids to Acua Park, the only water park on the island, where they can let of some steams and you can enjoy a drink at one of the bars.

If you’re looking to try something new, however, then in Corralejo you’ll find Restaurante Avenida, which is very popular with the locals for its rustic Spanish fare, La Arrocería, tucked away in the back streets, and Citrus Surf Cafe, for burgers and wraps.
