Things to do in Graz

Start your visit with a tour of the beautiful Old Town, known as Altstadt von Graz. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is full of medieval and Italian Renaissance architecture, plus cafes and boutiques all along winding streets. At the heart of the Old Town is Schlossberg; once the site of a fortress, the area is now a public park. Take a stroll along the pathways and discover the Open Air Theatre, the Chinese Pavilion, or climb the Clock Tower and take in the elevated views.

Another top place to visit is Eggenberg Palace, on the edge of the city centre; this beautiful building (which is part of the medieval castle), is home to art galleries, historic collections and a garden with peacocks.

If you’re looking to experience a more typical day in local life, go to the daily market at Kaiser-Josef-Platz, where you can shop for local delicacies and gifts.

Top attractions

For history-lovers, one of the most interesting spots in the city is the Styrian Armory; home to 32,000 exhibits of weapons, incredible suits of armour plus baroque statues - It’s a fascinating place to visit.

Another top historical sight is the Glockenspiel, found at the appropriately named Glockenspielplatz square. This cheerful clock chimes at 11am, 3pm and 6pm, when a dancing wooden couple appear from the clock, twirling to the sound of the bells. For a more modern side of the city, take a look at Kunsthaus Graz (known as ‘the friendly alien’), this innovative building, designed by Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, exhibits contemporary art.

Best restaurants

You’ll be spoilt for choice with the selection of restaurants which serve a mix of traditional and modern types of typical Styrian dishes. Der Steirer is a bistro pub serving contemporary versions of goulash and meat dishes, alongside small plates and tapas. Landhauskeller is a stylish eatery with first-class Austrian food, while Promenade is good for breakfast and brunch, or an afternoon drink with tapas.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
