Things to do

Karlovy Vary is a popular spa town located in a beautiful setting, in the green valley of the river Teplá, in Western Bohemia in the Czech Republic. It is made famous by its natural thermal springs, which have brought visitors to the town since the 19th century. While many come just to relax in its spas and enjoy the peaceful environment of one of Europe’s most attractive spa towns, there are plenty of other things to do during your stay here.

Quality glass products have long been produced in Karlovy Vary and holidaymakers can take a tour of the local Glass Museum and factory at the Moser Visitor Centre. It’s a popular attraction for families and children will love watching the glassblowers at work. The city is also well known for the production of Becherovka, a popular herbal liqueur similar to Jägermeister or Chartreuse. Stop by the Jan Becher Museum if you’re interested in trying some, or pop into any of the town’s bars.

If you have the time, the Diana Observation Tower located in the hilly forests around the spa, offers some of the best panoramic views of the city. Enjoy the leafy walk along the trails to get there, or take the funicular to the top. You’ll also find a little zoo, butterfly house and restaurant waiting.

Top attractions

Since Karlovy Vary is famous as a historic spa town, one of the most popular things to do here is spend a relaxing day at one of the spas, enjoying a treatment. The natural hot springs are said to be great for the skin and have healing properties. Go for a swim in one of the outdoor pools, such as the one at Hotel Termal which offers views over the city.

The best natural attraction in Karlovy Vary is the Vřídlo hot spring, the symbol of the city. This hot water geyser reaches a height of 12 metres. In the 17th century, a communal bath was built around the geyser, later developed in the 19th century into a glass-walled building where people can view the natural fountain.

Best restaurants

The Postal Court Restaurant dates back over 200 years, to when it was a stall used to house the postal horses. Today it is a romantic setting for visitors looking for an excellent meal of Czech or International cuisine. For breakfast, lunch or simply an afternoon coffee, stop off at Republica Coffee. Here you’ll find a relaxed setting with a choice of sweet and savoury local snacks.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
