Things to do in Hinterglemm

Hinterglemm has everything to offer to make it the perfect choice for both a skiing holiday and a summer break. The town is well supplied with shops, sports stores, ski rental, bike rental and restaurants. Whatever time of year you go, you’re sure to find some après-ski bars and parties around town. Hinterglemm has a good reputation for its nightlife. If you’re not tempted by the pubs and ski bars, why not pay a visit to the Brennerei Enn schnapps distillery, where you can taste some of the different spirits, gin and liqueurs they produce.

The Local History and Ski Museum is an interesting place to explore during a day off the slopes, tracing the history of the former mountain village to the modern ski resort it is now. Various tours of the local cultural sites are available to visitors, as is the farmhouse based at the museum which hosts events and exhibitions. The ski museum houses hundreds of sporting exhibits.

If you’re really looking to kick back and relax then why not book in for a beauty treatment or massage at one of the local spas? Or simply buy a pass and enjoy the pool, sauna and steam room. A walk around the Kaprun High Mountains Reservoirs is also a great way to detox during your stay, and you’ll find plenty of activities and restaurants along the way.

Winter activities

Hinterglemm has more than its fair share of winter sports, alongside the usual skiing and snowboarding. If it’s your first time, of course, book some skiing lessons at one of the ski schools. Some of the most popular outdoor activities include winter hiking through the snowy landscapes, ice-karting (go karting on ice), and toboggan runs - try them at night too on the floodlit pistes. You can also try night skiing, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow, test out your balance with some ice skating or try snowshoeing.

Summer activities

Summertime in Hinterglemm has just as much to offer visitors, with lots of things to see and do. Hiking is one of the most popular activities, and with the beautiful mountains and countless hiking trails it’s easy to see why. Discover the stunning vistas of the Pinzgau Grass Mountains and the Kitzbühel Alps after a hearty Austrian breakfast.

Motorbike tours around the winding mountain roads are also very popular, but if you prefer to work for your lunch, why not hire a mountain bike or e-bike, or try bike touring around the area. Other sport options include geocaching, horse riding, tennis, quad biking, canyoning, fishing, golf and so much more. Don’t forget the Mega Flying Fox zip line, which crosses the Glemmtal valley at speeds of up to 80 km/h!

When to go

The warmest months are during the peak summer time, July and August, when you’ll find lots of events and activities for holidaymakers looking to enjoy the outdoors in the sun. Hinterglemm’s ski season runs from early December until early April, although the half term holidays are best avoided as the most expensive and busiest times for skiing.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
