Things to see and do near Barbados Port

There are shops, cafes and bars at the cruise terminal for passengers waiting to board their cruise or looking for an easy meal not far from the ship. However, the centre of Bridgetown itself is only a short distance on foot or by taxi from the port. On the way you’ll pass Cheapside Market, where you can buy local produce and gifts to take back home. For locally made crafts, try the Pelican Craft Centre or Earthworks Pottery Studio, ideal for souvenirs.

There are a couple of beaches near the port, including sheltered Carlisle Bay, where you’ll find bars and restaurants, and Accra Beach, which is ideal for cheap eats and discovering the local life. If you’re looking to take a dip, the calm waters of Paynes Bay are ideal for swimming and snorkelling, and there’s a good chance of spotting a sea turtle. You can also take a boat trip or catamaran tour of the coast.

Top attractions

From the port, the historic centre of Bridgetown is within an easy distance. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you can expect to find plenty of attractive architecture, historic buildings and interesting places to see. The top monuments and sites include the 19th century Parliament Buildings and the George Washington House (the only residence of the former president outside the US). You can also take a tour of the Garrison, visit Bridgetown’s synagogue, or take a tasting tour of the Mount Gay Rum bottling plant.

Best restaurants

There are a range of great restaurants to try on the West Coast, from trendy eateries such as Cliff Beach Club, to delicious tapas bars. Brown Sugar is the best spot for local dishes at a great price - there’s a buffet lunch option for hungry travellers. Alternatively, you can book a table at the Waterfront Cafe in Bridgetown, where you can enjoy the views out over the docks.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
