A must for many tourists to the island is a tour of the Grand Etang National Park and Forest Reserve. Located in the centre of the island, not too far from the Grand Anse hotels, you’ll find an information centre, complete with curious monkeys and the scenic Grand Etang Lake.

To get the best views of the lake, take the trail towards Mount Qua Qua, which offers a lookout over the lake and the sea beyond. You can then drive on to see the incredible Seven Sisters Falls and Annandale Falls. More adventurous holidaymakers can climb Mount St Catherine, the tallest mountain on the island at 840 metres, although this must be done with a guide. In need of some refreshment?
