What to do in Borneo?

The island of Borneo, in Malaysia, is a destination for travellers looking to experience tropical rainforests, stunning beaches and unique wildlife. The island is best known for Mount Kinabalu (the highest peak in the country), the beautiful coral reefs and not forgetting the native orangutans.

Adventurous holiday makers should try a guided tour and climb up the 4095 metres to the mountain’s peak. You could also go scuba diving or snorkelling at Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. Take a speedboat from Kota Kinabalu to one of the nearby protected islands of Gaya, Manukan, Sapi, Sulug or Mamutik for more pristine beaches.

Fans of the TV series Survivor can even visit the original Survivor Island, which is not too far from Kota Kinabalu in the South China Sea.

The real stars of the show however are the island’s famous orangutans - For the best chance of seeing them, visit the incredible Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where young and orphaned orangutans are nursed back to health before being released into the wild.

The other main places that should be on your must-see list are: Maliau Basin (one of the very few places on Earth that remains completely free of human activity), Danum Valley (the ultimate jungle experience), and Kinabatangan River for the chance to join a river cruise and see wild proboscis monkeys who are native to the island.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
