Queenstown International Airport (ZQN) is located 8 km from Queenstown, in Frankton, Otago. It serves the town of Queenstown and the surrounding area of South Island, and is the fourth busiest airport in New Zealand.

The town itself has plenty of opportunities for shopping, spa treatments, fine dining and nightlife, and is a popular location for Lord of the Rings fans, who will recognise some of the surrounding areas as filming locations. Nearby day trips include Mt Aspiring National Park, Arrowtown - a former gold mining town where you can go gold panning, and Paradise Valley.
