You can also visit two of the most iconic sights of the area, the Angel of the North (a giant statue by artist Antony Gormley), and Hadrian’s wall. Follow the public route along the wall and take in some of the delightful northern scenery. You could even take a pilgrimage out to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in the North.
