Whatever time of year you arrive, a visit to the top of Kitzbuhel’s nearest peaks is a must. The largest of which, at 1,998 metres tall, is the Kitzbüheler Horn - At the top you’ll find the beautiful Alpine Flower Garden, which is in full bloom during the spring months (a stunning carpet of Arnica, edelweiss and purple bellflowers). You can get here either with a four hour hike, via the scenic mountain road, or by cable car. If you enjoy hiking, and spectacular views, then the other must-visit mountain is the Hahnenkamm.

Things to see and do in Kitzbuhel

In the centre of Kitzbuhel, find out a little more about the history of the area at the Museum Kitzbühel; exhibitions include its Bronze Age beginnings, plenty of winter sports collections, as well as local landscape painters. Wrap up your day with a visit to Huberbräu Stüberl, an old-world pine tavern with classic Austrian dishes such as goulash and dumplings. Alternatively, treat yourself to a meal at Kupferstube, based at the five-star Tennerhof Hotel.

Winter activities

Kitzbühel is one of the best-known sporting towns in the Alps, offering excellent weather conditions for skiing and snowboarding in the winter. It has a long ski season, from mid-October to early May, making it a reliable destination for anyone looking to enjoy the slopes.

However, for non-skiers or anyone looking to try something new, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the snow. Whether you choose to take in the scenery at a leisurely pace with a winter hike, or try out snowshoeing, or alternatively work up a sweat with some cross country skiing; there are plenty of options available. You can even take a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the winter wonderland for an unforgettable adventure.

Summer activities

Kitzbühel is not just a destination for the winter months, in the summer, when the snow has melted, the mountain paths are open for hiking, running and cycling. The Streif, one of the most legendary ski slopes, has around 170 km of trails, with 1,200 km of cycling routes to enjoy. If you’re an experienced climber then Wilder Kaiser and Hohe Tauern offer some more extreme climbing routes to try.

There are also plenty of leisurely summer sports to enjoy as well; Kitzbühel is a great location for golfers and there are plenty of tennis courts available too. When it gets hot, take a cooling dip in the Schwarzsee lake, popular with swimmers, triathletes and sunbathers.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
