What to do in Nassau

Best known as the home of some of the very best beaches in the world, Nassau boasts miles of white sand and gloriously sunny days. It’s the ultimate paradise island getaway. There are plenty of beaches to choose from, depending on what you are looking for. With some dedicated to relaxing in the sun and some are offering a plethora of activities and watersports.

One of the top activities to try here is snorkelling, which is accessible to everyone, or scuba diving if you are an experienced diver or looking to learn. But besides, you’ll find jet skiing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and deep sea fishing to keep you entertained.

Some of the other, popular natural attractions on the island include the Primeval Forest National Park, the Clifton Heritage National Park and the Blue Lagoon (or Salt Cay). Here you can get close and personal with a friendly sea lion. Or take a boat trip out to Stingray City Park, where you can experience a stingray snorkelling adventure.

You can also learn more about the island with a visit to the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, Parliament Square and Fort Charlotte. The kids especially will love a day out at fun-filled Aquaventure Water Park, at Atlantis Paradise Island. Or you could try a chocolate workshop at the island’s only interactive chocolate factory, Graycliff Chocolatier.

Finish off you dar at Arawak Cay, or the ‘Fish Fry’ as it’s known locally. Here you can sample some of the local life, enjoy a beer or cocktails and try some of the regional cooking as you watch the sunset over the beach.
