Things to see and do in Solden

Whatever brings you to Sölden, you shouldn’t leave without taking in the incredible views from the top of the mountains. Sölden is known for its ‘Big 3’; three peaks of 3,000 metres each which can all be accessed by lifts. Each mountain has its own spectacular viewing platform, from the nature platform on Rettenbach glacier to the panoramic, gravity-defying footbridge on Tiefenbach glacier and the 007 ELEMENTS platform on Gaislachkogl. This James Bond museum experience includes a cinematic installation and glass walls for a 360° view.

Another way to see the mountains is on the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road; this winding ride makes the perfect road trip and crosses the border into Italy. You can also visit some of the renowned winegrowers in the area, with vineyard tours during the summer months and special events in winter.

After all that sightseeing, sit back and relax at one of the luxury spas, such as the Freizeitarena Sölden leisure and spa centre - Enjoy a soothing massage, sauna or beauty treatment before taking a dip in the warm waters of an indoor pool.

Winter activities

Sölden is a key destination for skiing, it’s an official training ground for the US Ski Team and hosts the annual first race of the Ski World Cup, drawing in some of the biggest names in the sport. The ski resort is best suited to more experienced snowboarders and skiers, however there is a choice of runs for beginner and intermediate skiers. All in all, there is a huge choice of pistes, including the long 15 km run from Schwarze Schneid. If you’re looking for other snow activities, try the Silbertal Toboggan Run or winter walking.

Summer activities

Hiking is one of the main activities to be enjoyed in the summer, and there are a range of mountain hikes to choose from. One of the best is the one day trek on Tiefenbachferner Glacier, an 11 km walk for keen hikers. Similarly there is a good choice of mountain bike trails, starting with the easier routes such as the Eebme Line or the Harbe Line, which starts from the top cable car station of Giggijochbahn. Or there are the more difficult trails - experienced MTB cyclists only - such as the Hochsölden Panorama Trail or the Ollweite Line, which starts from the top of the Langeggbahn lift. Other sports include outdoor climbing, white water rafting and geocaching.

Best restaurants

If there’s one restaurant you visit during your stay in Solden, make it the award-winning Ötztaler Stube at the Das Central hotel. A gourmet menu based around locally sourced food, and a traditional alpine setting, make this restaurant a clear winner for anyone looking to make the most of their holiday in Austria.

Types of HolidayTaxis transfer vehicles
March 31, 2023

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
